Pre-draft rankings had Trevon Moehrig as the best safety in this year’s draft. He was the only one who was expected to go in the first round.
Though he not only didn’t go in the first round, Moehrig ended up being the third safety drafted. Here are the early Defensive Rookie of the Year odds from William Hills Sports Book with Moehrig leading the way among safeties.
Moehrig comes in with 20/1 odds to win DROY honors. That’s just outside the top ten among all rookie defenders. Jevon Holland and Richie Grant — the two safeties taken ahead of Moehrig — both come in with 50/1 odds.
The best odds go to LB Micah Parsons, DE Kwity Paye, and oddly Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. Even though Koramoah didn’t come off the board until 52nd overall in the second round. The only other player in the top ten who was not selected in the first round was LB Azeez Ojulari.’
No other Raiders’ draft picks were listed among the odds.
