Sacramento Kings rookie Tyrese Haliburton will not play on Tuesday versus the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a left knee injury, according to the team’s official injury report.
Haliburton exited Sunday night’s win over the Dallas Mavericks early after landing awkwardly on his left leg. He was in visible pain following the sequence and eventually needed assistance to walk off of the court to the locker room.
Following the injury, it was reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN that the Kings were optimistic that Haliburton avoided a serious knee injury. Kings head coach Luke Walton said Haliburton was in good spirits following the game and would undergo an MRI on Monday.
The results of the MRI have not yet been released by the Kings.
“Tyrese is an upbeat guy,” Walton said following the game. “His spirits were fine after the game. He was happy for his teammates and he was happy for us getting the win.”

The injury to Haliburton would be a devastating end to what has been an impressive rookie season with the Kings. After exiting early on Sunday, Haliburton is averaging 13 points, 5.3 assists and three rebounds in 58 games this season.
Haliburton had returned to the starting lineup recently in place of De’Aaron Fox, who is sidelined due to health and safety protocols. He was posting 18.5 points, nine assists and three rebounds over his last four games in place of Fox.
While the Kings have not yet released the MRI results for Haliburton, the team will certainly be cautious with his potential return to the court. With eight games left, and the team 4.5 games back of 10th place, it is possible Haliburton has played his last game of the season.
