The New England Patriots were able to get a quarterback without having to trade up to get him. With the No. 15 pick, the team chose to draft Mac Jones of Alabama.
After rumors of Jones possibly going at No. 3 to the 49ers, he slid back 12 spots right to New England. After helping lead the Alabama Crimson Tide to a National Championship, Jones will go from one legendary coach to another in Bill Belichick. He will likely start out as the backup to Cam Newton and become the eventual starting quarterback for the Patriots.
Jones finished out his career with the Tide hoisting the National Championship trophy and being named a finalist for the Heisman Memorial Trophy. He would also set the NCAA record for completion percentage in a season, breaking Colt McCoy’s record. Now he will learn from one of the best NFL coaches to ever roam the sideline at the next level.
