With the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, the Atlanta Falcons boosted their offense by taking Florida tight end Kyle Pitts.
While unknown rather the Falcons would select a quarterback at No. 4, it seems as though they have opted to surround Matt Ryan with another weapon for their offense.
Pitts is an incredible athlete for the tight end position who brings wide receiver-like athleticism off the snap and speed needed to stretch the field vertically. He is crisp coming out of his breaks, explosive after the catch, and physical after the catch point. His ability to line up in the slot, as an in-line tight end or on the outside, Pitts’ combination of size and athleticism makes him an incredibly tough player to defend in coverage.
The first tight end taken in the top-5 since Riley Odoms went fifth to the Broncos in 1972, Pitts is a true unicorn at the position. He joins the likes of Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and Hayden Hurst as pass-catching options for Atlanta’s high-powered offense.
