Texas quarterbacks Casey Thompson and Hudson Card each had their ups and downs throughout the annual Orange-White spring game on Saturday.
Neither one necessarily pulled away from the other and the position battle will likely continue until Texas’ season opener against Louisiana on Sept. 4. Card was working with the second-team offense on the white side, while Thompson had a plethora of weapons at his disposal with the first-team offense on the orange side.
It would have been interesting to witness Card with the first-team offense as well, but we’ll save that discussion for another day.
Card notably pushed the ball down field a bit more compared to Thompson who seemingly wanted to check down often. Thompson finished the day 23 of 42 for 242 yards and two interceptions. Card was 15 of 25 for 168 yards and one touchdown.
Thompson was inconsistent at times with a few poor throws while Card took inexcusable sacks. However, each of them flashed potential with several impressive passes and Texas appears to be in good hands no matter who Steve Sarkisian ultimately names the starter.
Take a look at a few of the best throws from the Orange-White game below:
