Tennessee Volunteers transfer Eric Gray met expectations in his Oklahoma debut. In Crimson and Cream, Gray impressed with his vision and acceleration during the team’s annual spring exhibition game.
His cut-ability has stood out to coaches throughout spring practices and on Saturday, Gray’s skill was on full display. No. 0 made his way into the end zone on a 19-yard run. He hit the hole, put his foot in the ground, and made a guy miss in the open field. Gray helped the offense (white) achieve a comeback victory against the defense (red).

Gray concluded his Vols’ career with 1,311 all-purpose yards and 11 touchdowns (eight rushing, three receiving). During his 2020 campaign, he led Tennessee with 772 rushing yards and finished second on the team with 30 receptions. Now, he will elevate Lincoln Riley’s RPO/play-action-heavy scheme with his versatility.

As a gadget back, he can do it all: run between the tackles, catch out of the backfield, and line up in the slot. He can quickly get north and south and is a pass-catching threat as well. Gray will thrive in Riley’s system and Saturday’s spring game is already an indication of his versatile skillset. He has been productive at every step in his career and Oklahoma will be the next phase in his promising trajectory.
