The Lady Vols lost an extra-inning affair Saturday night at South Carolina.
The Gamecocks were victorious, 3-2, as Riley Blampied came up with a two-out sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning to help capture their second Southeastern Conference victory of the season at Carolina Softball Stadium.
South Carolina (23-15, 2-11 SEC) never trailed in the contest. The Gamecocks took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Skylar Trahan came home on a passed ball.
South Carolina extended its edge to 2-0 in the third on an RBI double by Mackenzie Boesel.
The No. 16 Lady Vols used the long ball to pull even as Chelsea Seggern and Ivy Davis both hit solo home runs in the top of the seventh.
Tennessee mustered just four hits in the game as Cailin Hannon and Kiki Milloy singled in the contest.
In the circle, Ashley Rogers (18-5) threw another complete game as she hurled 7.2 innings. She gave up three runs (two earned), seven hits and five walks. Rogers struck out seven South Carolina hitters.
