Well, it will come as no surprise to anyone that Ohio State has slipped quite a bit in the final Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA Today Sports after an upset at the hands of Oral Roberts in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The Buckeyes became on the ninth No. 2 seed to lose to a 15 seed in tournament history.
Despite the body of work, OSU fell pretty far in the final coaches poll, all the way to No. 15 in the nation. After being ranked as high as No. 4 in the country, Ohio State fell out of the top ten for the first time since the beginning of February.
The Buckeyes did themselves no favors with a poor performance against Oral Robers, but it also feels like the Big Ten, in general, laid an egg after being so dominant in the regular season. Illinois who entered the tournament at No. 2, stumbled against Loyola Chicago, and finished at No. 8 in the country.
Either the Big Ten wasn’t as good as advertised or they beat each other up so badly in the regular season that they had nothing left to give once March Madness started. Or, it was March being March. The debate could go back and forth for a long time, but we’ll let you make the final decision.
