The New York Giants will continue their old school approach to free agency on Monday, hosting another player for a face-to-face visit.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that veteran defensive tackle Danny Shelton will be in East Rutherford to meet with the organization’s shot-callers.

Shelton, 27, was a first-round pick of the Browns in the 2015 NFL draft and spent the first three seasons of his career in Cleveland. However, the team opted to ship him off to New England in 2018 where he played under Bill Belichick and current Giants head coach Joe Judge.
After his brief stint with the Patriots, Shelton signed a two-year deal with the Detroit Lions last offseason but was released earlier this month.
In 87 career games (72 starts), Shelton has recorded 247 tackles (16 for a loss), one forced fumble, two passes defensed, 18 QB hits and 5.5 sacks.
In 2020, Shelton was given a career-low grade of 51.1 courtesy of Pro Football Focus, but that came after four consecutive seasons grading out between 69.6 and 82.1.
The 6-foot-2, 345-pound Shelton is strictly a nose tackle and would essentially fill the role left by Dalvin Tomlinson’s departure should the Giants choose to sign him. That would also allow defensive coordinator Patrick Graham to keep his scheme intact and prevent Dexter Lawrence from being used one-dimensionally.
It’s unclear if Judge will be around for the meeting with Shelton as he’s currently slated to attend the University of Miami pro day.
