Spring football is underway in Norman and like always with Lincoln Riley’s explosive offensive attack, there is a lot of attention surrounding Spencer Rattler’s supporting cast.
Many players will return in 2021 including slot receiver Trejan Bridges. Bridges missed the CFP Semifinal and the Peach Bowl due to a suspension for a failed drug test that carried over into the 2020 season. He was sidelined during the entirety of the 2020 season and did not step onto the field until the Big 12 Championship against Iowa State. Both Riley and Bridges vocalized their frustrations over the outcome/handling of the situation but now with the character concerns and substance abuse behind him, Bridges is ready to leave his mark this upcoming season.
When asked by media via zoom on the return of Bridges, Rattler gave a wry smile as he discussed one of his favorite targets.
“Me and Trej [Trejan Bridges] will always have that chemistry. me and him have some of the best chemistry on the team in my opinion. Just having him back, such a mismatch on that outside and he is going to do his job and get open and make those big-time catches. So, like I said about Marv [Marvin Mims], he has got a lot of work to do just like we all do but we are going to keep striving towards perfection and keep pushing. Trej has looked really good so far.”
Bridges will be an additional weapon in Rattler’s arsenal with his instincts and ball skills. He is productive whether it be a screen out of the flat to gain yardage or a crosser over the middle of the field. Bridges is a playmaker and Riley described this as a tremendous opportunity for him to “prove that he can be consistent on-and-off the field.”

The raw talent is certainly evident but maturity is the question mark surrounding No. 8. Bridges possesses elite body control and one-cut ability and will elevate Oklahoma’s passing game in 2021.
