The No. 2-seed Alabama Crimson Tide will continue their journey for a National Championship on Monday, as they advance to the Round of 32 to face the No. 10-seed Maryland Terrapins on Monday.
Alabama defeated Iona Saturday by pulling away from the Gaels midway through the second half. Both teams traded the lead 11 times in the half before Alex Reese nailed a 3-pointer that sparked a 23-15 run over the final 10:46 in the game to give the Tide the 68-55 win.
Maryland dominated the final 7:30 of the first half in their game over No. 7 seed UConn, en route to a 63-54 upset win over the Huskies on Saturday. Maryland and UConn played neck-and-neck with each other until Maryland’s Eric Ayala shot a 3 that pushed the Terps to a 12-3 run to end the half.
That showdown with Maryland is set to get underway on Monday at 7:45 p.m. CT (8:45 p.m. ET).
