The New York Giants watched a slew of edge rushers get taken off the market as the NFL’s “legal tampering” window opened on Monday and that included one they were chasing.
Several years after expressing interest in him as a prospect in the NFL draft, the Giants made a push to sign Leonard Floyd, reports Dianna Russini of ESPN.

The Giants weren’t alone in their pursuit of Floyd, however. The Los Angeles Rams were actively attempting to re-sign the 28-year-old who recorded 55 tackles and 10.5 sacks a season ago and eventually managed to do so.

Originally selected in the first round (No. 9 overall) in the 2016 NFL draft, Floyd spent the first four seasons of his career with the Chicago Bears. He made the PFWA All-Rookie team his first season, but never truly reached his potential in The Windy City.
In total, Floyd recorded 154 tackles, 18.5 sacks and one interception in 54 games with the Bears.
In just one season with the Rams, Floyd set career highs in tackles (55), sacks (10.5), QB hits (19), fumble recovered (two) and forced fumbles (one). His 69.0 Pro Football Focus grade was the second-highest of his career.
