It is probably safe to say that 2020 Boston Celtics draft-and-stash point guard prospect Yam Madar is ready to test the waters of the NBA next season with the game he is displaying in the Israeli Premier Basketball League with his current team, Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Fresh off helping lead the Israeli National Team to the best record in the FIBA EuroBasket qualifiers in February, Madar is back with his Premier League squad, putting up 24 points and 6 assists against one of the Israeli League powerhouses, Maccabi Tel Aviv. Whether Madar makes the leap to join the Celtics in the NBA next season largely depends on how the contract situation with Hapoel Tel Aviv turns out. Madar and the club are at odds about his exit.
It makes sense they’d want to hold onto this kind of talent, but also that Madar would want to spread his wings.
