Big 12 Basketball: No. 13 Texas leads No. 20 Texas Tech at the half

The first half recap of round one of the Big 12 Tournament between the Texas Longhorns and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

In game one of the Big 12 tournament, the Texas Longhorns are looking to get their first win of the season vs. the Texas Tech Red Raiders. At the half, the Longhorns lead Texas Tech by a score of 34-30.

For most of the game, Tech held the lead, extending it to as much as 10 points at one point. Despite two of Texas’ best players (Courtney Ramey and Andrew Jones) each having two fouls, the Longhorns held composure. With just over a minute to go, they took the lead and extended it to a two-score spread before halftime.

Matt Coleman III has picked up the slack from the guard play with 10  points on 50% from the field. He’s gotten plenty of help on both ends from Jericho Sims, who’s got six points, two blocks, seven rebounds and a steal.

The Longhorns hold the momentum at halftime, but it’s still close and they’ll need to keep relying on Coleman if Jones and Ramey are unable to stay out of foul trouble.
