Tennessee volleyball player Madison Bryant has been named Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Bryant, a sophomore from Anderson, South Carolina, had a combined 33 digs in the Lady Vols’ two-match SEC series sweep against Mississippi State in Knoxville March 5-6.
She had 18 digs for Tennessee in the opener against the Bulldogs Friday at Thompson-Boling Arena in the Lady Vols’ four-set victory.
Bryant followed up that performance with 15 digs when UT swept the Bulldogs in straight sets Saturday. She also posted a career-high three service aces Saturday and finished the two-game series with nine assists.
The Lady Vols (8-6,8-6 SEC) will return to action Saturday when they travel to face Arkansas. The two teams will also play Sunday.
Saturday’s match is slated for 3 p.m. EST, while Sunday’s match will get underway at 3 p.m. EDT.
