When you lose two out of your last three games, you’re bound to fall in the eyes of the coaches who vote in the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports.
The Wolverines surged in last week’s poll, off the heels of not only big wins over Iowa and Indiana, but also with the former No. 2 Baylor suffering from a loss. Michigan was on the verge of being that top spot held by Gonzaga, and possibly could have leap-frogged it with a big win over No. 4 Illinois. But, the Ayo Dosunmu-less Illini came to Ann Arbor and exposed every weakness the maize and blue had. While a lopsided win over unranked MSU cured some ills, the Spartans got revenge days later, when they upset the Wolverines in East Lansing to close out the Big Ten regular season.
Thus, Michigan basketball dropped from No. 2 to No. 4 in the latest coaches poll.
