One reason Claressa Shields agreed to fight Marie-Eve Dicaire in the main event of an all-woman pay-per-view card Friday is to demonstrate that women can — and do — generate viewership comparable to men.
It’s all part of her battle for parity for women in boxing, in which she has built a sizeable following.
“When you have the numbers to prove what you are worth, nobody can take that away from you,” she said.
