The Buffalo Bills were named as a team, once again, still in on the JJ Watt sweepstakes.
The three-time Defensive Player of the Year has been a free agent for a few weeks now as the Texans released him on Feb. 12. Since then, he has decided to take his time selecting his new team, understandably.
On Sunday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said on SportsCenter, per Syracuse.com, that the Bills are among his current finalists.
“Watt has narrowed down his suitors to just serious contenders,” Fowler said. “From what I’m hearing, the Buffalo Bills are one that Watt is at least considering right now. They are an option.”
Fowler’s report also stated that Watt’s suitors started near at least a dozen teams and now it’s down to three to five. Not much of a change from recent news on the 31-year-old’s thoughts, but at least the Bills were mentioned by name in the report. A good sign.
While 31, Watt still has been productive in the very recent past. Pro Football Focus graded him as the NFL’s seventh best pass rusher in 2020. Considering that and his accolades, it comes as no surprise that Watt has several suitors in on him.
