DeAndre Hopkins’ Instagram post must have worked.
After weeks of speculation since his release from the Houston Texans, J.J. Watt made his final decision in his first experience with free agency. And it wasn’t a team that many expected as a realistic landing spot.
Watt is signing with the Arizona Cardinals.
He made the announcement with a Twitter photo of himself working out in a Cardinals T-shirt — a decision that came shortly after he refuted a Peloton profile that had Green Bay, Cleveland and Buffalo as the final three teams.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Watt is signing a two-year, $31 million deal with Arizona. And given how the Cardinals weren’t mentioned in any of the rumors, fans were justifiably surprised by the news.

Looks like the #Bills will only see JJ Watt during his new contract if the Cardinals make the Super Bowl https://t.co/wgITVUAHfY
