Mac Jones is entering an NFL draft class loaded with talent, ranging from Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence to North Dakota State’s Trey Lance. There are plenty of positives in Jones’ game, but some negatives.
Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky joined ESPN to describe how Jones could take the next step and be a succesful quarterback at the professional level.
Orlovsky, who spent 12 seasons in the NFL with five different teams, understands that the biggest knock on Jones is his size, which leads to questions about his athleticism. However, he believes Jones can overcome that obstacle by being a smarter, more hardworking quarterback than others.
Studying film and being put into a fast-paced offense, similar to that of Alabama’s could lead to Jones being a young star in the NFL.
Mel Kiper’s latest mock draft has Jones going No. 8 overall to the Carolina Panthers, who are lacking a few pieces.
