Four-star S Bryan Allen Jr. commits to Texas over Oklahoma, Texas A&M

The Texas Longhorns and Steve Sarkisian landed an elite defensive back prospect from the 2022 recruiting class on Sunday.

Texas landed another elite defensive back prospect to their 2022 recruiting class.

Former LSU commit and four-star safety Bryan Allen Jr. officially announced his commitment to Texas on Sunday. He’s listed as the No. 6 safety prospect in the 2022 recruiting class according to 247Sports. The Aledo, Texas, native is a top-20 player in the state and top-60 player in the country.

On Feb. 21, Allen released his top seven schools consisting of Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Auburn, Ohio State, Jacksonville State and USC. A week later, he released a short video clip of his announcement via Twitter.

The 6-0, 180-pound playmaker is a two-sport athlete at Aledo High School and participated in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and relays. On the football field, Allen was named the 5A Defensive Player of the Year by Texas Sportswriters Association in 2020. As a sophomore in 2019, Allen was awarded the District 5-5A-II Defensive Newcomer of the Year.

Steve Sarkisian and his staff continue to keep the momentum rolling with high-tier commitments for the 2022 class. The addition of Allen bumped the Longhorns class to No. 4 in the nation.
