Texas basketball vs. Texas Tech: First half recap

A recap of the first half in the rematch between the Texas Longhorns and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The score is 33-33 at halftime.

Texas Tech won the first matchup of the series back in early January in a close game. To the same tune, this one is also a nail-biter with the score tied up 33-33 at the half.

Matt Coleman III and Jericho Sims are leading the Longhorns in scoring with eight and six points respectively. What’s more impressive is they’ve been shooting 75% and 100% from the field, as the team is shooting 50% overall for the game so far.

Texas was able to keep Red Raider Mac McClung scoreless until 5:39 to play in the first half, before scoring five unanswered points to give Texas Tech the lead.

At this point in the game, both squads have played very tight defense and haven’t allowed either team to go on any long, significant scoring runs. This looks like it will be another close one down to the wire.

Leading Scorers in the first half:

Kevin McCullar: 9 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist

Matt Coleman III: 8 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists

Kyler Edwards: 8 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist
