Big 12 Basketball: Texas Longhorns vs Kansas Jayhawks first half recap

A recap of the first half in the rematch between the Texas Longhorns basketball team and the Kansas Jayhawks.

As opposed to their previous matchup where Texas had the halftime lead and ended up winning, their second meeting was a back and forth game for the first 10 minutes and has since been in the Jayhawks’ control. Kansas leads Texas 43-32 at halftime.

Not only is Kansas outshooting the Longhorns by 14% from the field, but they’re forcing Texas to take unfavorable three-point shots and have only gone 1-13 from outside the arch.

Meanwhile, Kansas has shot 12 from three-point range and is scoring on 33.3% of their long shots while getting a great performance from Bryce Thompson off of the bench. In fact, Thompson and leading scorer Ochai Agbaji have combined for 25 points, which is just under what the entire Texas team scored in the first half.

Texas desperately needs to find some momentum to pull this one out.

Leading Scorers:

Ochai Agbaji – 14 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist

Bryce Thompson – 11 points, 2 assists

Jalen Wilson – 8 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists
