J.J. Watt taking his time: ‘You’re gonna have to give me a second’

Free agent DE J.J. Watt says he is going to take his time making free agency decision | Buffalo Bills.

The JJ Watt saga could be nearing an end, but it’s not found a conclusion just yet.

… And if his food ordering habits are any indication, it’s going to be a little bit longer until he makes up his mind on where he wants to play next.

Over the weekend, the 31-year-old defensive end posted to his social media account via Twitter. Someone who appears to be a football fan responded to Watt’s post, which involved him playing hockey and said: “You wanna sign somewhere or nah?”

In response, Watt made a mention of DoorDash, a food delivery service. He said he takes an hour before picking out his food options, so picking out a new home? Watt reasons and says that doing so will take some time.

To Watt’s point… that’s very fair. Observers of professional sports often do not consider the personal element of such things. Yes, Watt and athletes make a nice paycheck, but it’s still moving your life. Going from Houston to Buffalo is certainly a big change of scenery, he so chose to do so.

And as much as fans might not like it… there is no timetable for Watt to make his decision. Getting him locked up before free agency begins on March 17 would seem to be a priority for any team with interest in signing him… but that’s about it and it’s only Feb. 22.

So far at this point, the Bills and Watt are said to have a level of mutual interest. However, as many as a half-dozen clubs have been reportedly interested in his services, including the Browns, Titans and Packers.
