The highly anticipated rematch between the No. 13 ranked Texas Longhorns and the No. 10 ranked Oklahoma Sooners has been rescheduled due to the harsh weather hitting the country. On top of that, the Longhorns matchup against Iowa State was also pushed back.
The news was first announced on the Texas Men’s Basketball Twitter account.
🚨 Schedule Update 🚨
Due to inclement weather, the following schedule adjustments have been made:
Wednesday, February 17
Texas at Oklahoma (Time/TV is TBD)
Â
Thursday, February 18
Texas at Iowa State (postponed)#HookEm pic.twitter.com/1EcTRmHJTv— Texas Men's Basketball (@TexasMBB) February 15, 2021
The Longhorns lost their first matchup against the Sooners back in January by one point, their first of a game losing streak. Since that game, the team’s play has been inconsistent and resulted in a 2-2 run in that time span. Shaka Smart’s squad wants to get back to playing the same as they did after they started the year 10-1.
It’s been undetermined yet if there will be any more delays in the schedule. With not only COVID-19 delaying games, but also the freeze, many postponed games might not be rescheduled in time for the conference championships and subsequent NCAA tournament. Stay tuned for updates to come.
