Mavericks’ Tyrell Terry off to strong start on NBA G League assignment

The Mavericks’ second-round pick turned in another strong performance on assignment in the NBA G League on Thursday in a win.

After scoring 19 points in his NBA G League debut, Dallas Mavericks guard Tyrell Terry followed that performance up on Thursday by producing 18 points to help lead the Memphis Hustle to a win over the Canton Charge.

Terry, who was flex-assigned to the Hustle because the Mavericks did not field a team in the G League bubble, added eight rebounds, three assists and one steal in 34 minutes of action. He finished by shooting 6-of-21 from the field, including 2-of-8 from 3-point range.

The second-round got off to a strong start on Thursday, recording 14 points alone in the first half on 5-of-9 shooting. He has found success in his first two games driving to the basket and he has had a few impressive finishes in traffic, while also throwing down some dunks.

Terry played sparingly with the Mavericks to begin the season and the opportunity to play in the G League bubble should prove to be highly beneficial for his development.

Teams in the bubble will each play 15 games during the regular season, and it will certainly be worth monitoring how Terry progresses throughout the course of his stay at the Wide World of Sports Complex.
