When one thinks of NFL power rankings these days, the New York Giants do not register as a team that would be near the top. After finishing 6-10 in 2020, their fourth consecutive double-digit loss season, you would expect them to be near the bottom of the league.
That is exactly where the Giants are ranked in ESPN’s latest NFL 2021 power rankings.

Offseason in three or fewer words: Find some playmakers

The Giants’ defense was playoff-caliber for the most part but their offense was atrocious, scoring just 17.5 points per game and averaging 299.6 yards per contest. They were next to last in the NFL in both categories. Only the Jets were worse.
Second-year quarterback Daniel Jones had a particularly trying season, battling through injuries and throwing for 2,943 yards with only 11 touchdowns versus 10 interceptions.
Granted, the Giants were without star running back Saquon Barkley (ACL tear in Week 2) most of the season and their running game finally came around as the season unfolded, but there was no explosiveness to the offense. Their longest pass plays from scrimmage were runs. They only had two completions of over 50 yards on the year.
