It’s safe to say that Boston Celtics star forward Jaylen Brown is not feeling like he has the level of effort and commitment the team needs on the defensive side of the ball, even now.
He’s also being enough of a leader to shoulder far more of the blame than he should. As the Celtics dropped another winnable game late due to a defensie collapse — this time to the league-leading Utah Jazz — the Cal-Berkeley product had some choice words for his team’s defensive effort when it counted most. “We [expletive] should take it personally — the fourth quarter was embarrassing,” he noted after the game.

“That’s the time when we’re supposed to be our grittiest and it seems like we just fell apart,” he added. “In a sense, that’s a lack of toughness and that’s a lack of leadership — a lot of that is on me.”
