University of Tennessee Lady Vols senior Hannah Jefcoat has been named Southeastern Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Jefcoat, a native of Dacula, Georgia, received the honor after breaking her own school record in the pole vault last weekend at the Doc Hale Elite Meet, hosted by Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.
On her third attempt of the meet, Jefcoat topped the 14-foot mark for the first time in her collegiate career. She cleared 4.34 meters (14 feet, 2.75) on Saturday.
At Virginia Tech over the weekend, Jefcoat, cleared her previous best height by nine centimeters. Her previous best leap was 4.25 meters (13-11.25) at the SEC indoor championships on Feb. 29, 2020, in College Station, Texas.
Her current pole vault mark is the sixth best nationally and third highest in the nation.
