National Signing Day comes on Wednesday but one domino for the 2022 recruiting class fell a day early.
The Oklahoma Sooners were among the five teams vying for the commitment of Klein Cane running back Jaydon Blue. The four-star back is ranked as the No. 4 rated running back in the country per 247Sports composite rankings. Blue was down to five teams with Oklahoma being joined by the LSU Tigers, Texas Longhorns, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Georgia Bulldogs.
Unfortunately for the Sooners, running back coach DeMarco Murray wasn’t able to sway this target to come to Norman. He decided to make Austin his home as he committed to Texas.
I could be anywhere in the country the next 3-4 years playing college football and pursuing a degree in engineering. Today I would like to announce that I will be committing to the University of Texas

The Sooners are also in the running for the No. 2 and No. 3 running backs in the class. Gavin Sawchuk of Colorado and Raleek Brown of California are both looking heavily at the Sooners. Brown is set to make his announcement for commitment on Friday, Feb. 5.
Despite the missed opportunity to snag Blue, the Sooners are in a really good position to grab one of the top three backs with Sawchuk and Brown. Following National Signing Day, Oklahoma will find out where they are with Brown by the start of the weekend. The Sooners currently have a total of four commits in the cycle and that number could be as high as five or six by the time next week rolls around. Five-star defensive tackle Bear Alexander is also set to make his commitment announcement on Wednesday.
