Texas Football: What to watch for on national signing day

Take a look at the top storylines to watch for on national signing day as Texas hopes to close out their 2021 class on a high note.

Texas will attempt to make one final push to lock in any additional prospects to close out their 2021 recruiting efforts.
National signing day is approaching on Feb. 3 and there’s several highly-touted athletes that the Longhorns are still in the mix for. While a few of these recruits are from the Tom Herman era, others could lean towards Texas due to new head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Texas currently has the No. 17 overall recruiting class in the nation. There are 18 players who have signed their letter of intent and the Longhorns also dipped into the transfer portal and landed former LSU linebacker Ray Thornton and Notre Dame defensive lineman Ovie Oghoufo.

Four-star cornerback Ishmael Ibraheem still needs to sign his letter of intent after his off-the-field issues slowed the process and three-star wide receiver Keithron Lee remains a hard commit.

It’s a fairly lackluster ranking for the 2021 class considering Texas had a top 10 group each of the last three years. Take a look at the top storylines to watch out for on national signing day.
