The Pittsburgh Steelers opted to move on from offensive line coach Shaun Sarrett at the end of the 2020 season. In his place, Pittsburgh promoted former assistant offensive line coach Adrian Klemm to his job. Klemm was only added to the Steelers coaching staff in 2019 after coming over from UCLA.
In the eyes of many, the move seemed uninspired and more of the same for Pittsburgh. They also pointed to the problems with the offensive line in 2020 and wonder if more of the same is really the way to go with the changes head coach Mike Tomlin was talking about.
But several Steelers offensive linemen, past and present, took to social media to defend the decision to promote Klemm rather than hire from the outside.
No lie…Klemm is the BEST option. Having been around him, he’s a guy who gets it and knows how to challenge everyone in the room with an ego removed. Solid solid hire. With the room transitioning soon, he’s the guy for the job. I co-sign this.

Y’all don’t kno Klemm. We do. And that’s all that matters…

The assistant OL coach often works closely with the rookies thru out the week while the OL coach gets the starters ready for the game. Dotson’s performance this year w/o training camp should give you confidence in Coach Klemm’s potential. #SteelerNation

Let’s hope guys like Zach Banner and Ramon Foster know what they are talking about and this isn’t just offensive lineman going to bat for their fellow offensive linemen. The Steelers line was a disaster last season and a huge factor in why this team crumbled down the stretch.
