Lady Vols defeat Alabama, 82-56.

The University of Tennessee women’s basketball team nabbed an impressive Southeastern Conference road win Sunday afternoon.

The No. 23 Lady Vols trounced Alabama, 82-56, in Tuscaloosa.

The victory came just one game after Tennessee blew a big lead and lost to Georgia at home Thursday night.

The Lady Vols (9-2, 3-1 SEC) and Crimson Tide (11-2, 4-2) slugged through an evenly matched first quarter, after which the contest was in a 16-16 deadlock.

The Lady Vols wasted little time seizing control of the contest as they outscored Alabama, 26-7, in the second stanza. From there, UT never looked back after opening a 42-23 halftime advantage.

The Lady Vols had four players score in double figures.

Rennia Davis led Tennessee with 21 points. Davis posted a double-double as she pulled down 10 rebounds. Davis also had three steals and dished out a pair of assists.

Rae Burrell scored 10 points for UT, while Tamari Key scored 15 points and grabbed seven boards.

Jordan Horston finished the game with 14 points, seven assists and six rebounds for the Lady Vols, who step out of conference play to take on longtime rival and traditional powerhouse Connecticut Thursday night.

Tipoff for the game against the No. 4 Huskies is set for 7 p.m. EST at Thompson-Boling Arena.
