49ers place K Robbie Gould on COVID-19 list, sign K Tristan Vizcaino

The SF 49ers placed K Robbie Gould on the Reserve/COVID-19 list and signed K Tristan Vizcaino off the Minnesota Vikings practice squad.

On the same day that the San Francisco 49ers agreed to a two-year extension with kicker Robbie Gould, the team placed the 16-year veteran on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday.

Without any other kickers in the organization, the 49ers are set to sign kicker Tristan Vizcaino off the Minnesota Vikings practice squad per head coach Kyle Shanahan. Assuming Vizcaino clears all the COVID-19 protocols, he will be the 49ers kicker in Week 17.

Gould had been exceptional for the 49ers this season, entering Week 16 having missed just one extra point and one field goal within 50 yards. However, he easily had his worst performance of the season on Saturday in the 49ers 20-12 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, missing an extra point and two field goals inside 50 yards.

Vizcaino played at the University of Washington from 2014-2017 and has yet to appear in an official regular-season game. He did play for the Cincinnati Bengals last preseason and went 3-for-3 on extra points and 4-for-7 on field goals with a long of 57 yards.
