Browns at Jets: Game notes
- The Browns picked up a 20-6 win in this very same stadium on Sunday Night Football against the Giants. Cleveland has won its past four in a row on the road while covering each of the past two. It was a rare Under result on the road, as the previous three away games had been Overs.
- The Jets cashed as 17-point underdogs last week against the Rams, erasing that ugly goose egg from the win column in the nick of time. While many New York fans might be disappointed, as they feel the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft is now in doubt, Gang Green is showing no signs of quitting down the stretch.
- New York is just 1-5 SU across the past six, but they’re a respectable 4-2 ATS, with three of the past five losses suffered in one-score games. The Jets are also 3-1 ATS across the past four games at home.
- Cleveland can clinch their first playoff spot since 2002 with a win on Sunday, or some help elsewhere. They rank 11th in the NFL with 375.4 total yards per game, they’re third in rushing yards (152.6) per game and 12th in points scored (26.3 PPG).
- The Jets averaged just 11.8 PPG on offense across their first eight games, but they are posting 18.7 PPG over the past six outings. Despite the uptick in offense lately, they’re still last in total yards (271.1), passing yards (168.2) and points scored (14.7) per game.

Prediction
Browns 26, Jets 13
Money line (?)
The Browns (-500) will cost you more than five times your money, and that’s risky business. One, they’re still the Browns, and nothing is ever a sure thing with a franchise that hasn’t qualified for the postseason in nearly two decades. Two, after beating the Rams last week, the Jets (+375) once again serve as a cautionary tale on why you never bet heavy favorites straight up.
Against the spread (?)
The BROWNS -10 (-110) tossed a blanket on the Giants’ offense last week, limiting them to six points. While the Jets +10 (-110) have seen an uptick in offensive production lately, the Cleveland defense has shut down struggling teams lately, and they’ll do so again here.
Over/Under (?)
UNDER 47.5 (-105) is a good play in this one. New York’s offense overall has struggled, and facing a hot Cleveland defense won’t help their cause. And while the Browns have been decent on offense lately, their strength is the run game. New York’s defense ranks 14th against the run, right in the middle of the pack. This won’t be a defensive slog, but it won’t be a track meet, either.
