Joe Brady: Teddy Bridgewater gives Panthers ‘best chance to win’

The Panthers don’t appear to have any plans to make a change at quarterback during the last two games of the 2020 season.

Despite a poor string of performances from starter Teddy Bridgewater – which may have contributed to former general manager Marty Hurney’s firing on Monday morning – offensive coordinator Joe Brady says he hasn’t given any though to playing either P.J. Walker or Will Grier. He declared Bridgewater gives the team the best chance to win.

Walker started one game earlier this season, a 20-0 victory over the Lions. He threw two interceptions but also showed a soft touch on his passes and some solid ball placement.

Grier hasn’t played since last December when Kyle Allen got injured. He struggled in two starts, posting a 33.2 passer rating.

While it makes more sense to see what they have with Walker and Grier, for now Brady is correct that Bridgewater still gives Carolina the best chance to win games. With a potential top-five draft pick coming, that may not be the case for long, though.
