The Philadelphia 76ers officially began a new era on Wednesday night against the Washington Wizards. After seven seasons under Brett Brown, it was time to usher in the Doc Rivers era and there was a lot of excitement surrounding the team.
There were a lot of bumps and bruises in this season opener, but thanks to the heroics of Joel Embiid, the Sixers were able to escape with a 113-107 win to begin 1-0 on the season. The big fella scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to finish with 29 for the game with 14 rebounds, Shake Milton added 19 points, with Ben Simmons adding 16 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.
