The NBA’s LockerVision website was updated on Tuesday with new information regarding the uniform combinations that each team will wear in the first half of the 2020-21 regular season.
For the Rockets, their 2020-21 Nike jerseys include not only a new blue City Edition, but a corresponding light blue court to match. It will be the first time in years for Houston to have an alternate court design. (For all other jerseys, Toyota Center will feature its usual court with red trim.)
For a team with red as the primary color throughout most of its history, the choice of light blue certainly draws attention. The Rockets briefly had navy blue uniforms in the late 1990s, but this represents the secondary color from that era, rather than the primary. The light blue also ties in with the former Houston Oilers of the National Football League (NFL).
