Championship weekend is upon us for most of the college football and the Big 12 Conference. The Oklahoma Sooners are set to play the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday.
In the year 2020, we have seen one of the weirdest football seasons. During a pandemic, a lot was in the air as far as would we see a full season played. For the most part that is exactly what happened. The Texas Longhorns would only play nine games. It was the first time since 1944 that the team would only play nine. That year the Longhorns finished 5-4, just one win shy of their 2020 mark of 6-3.
It was reported on Sunday that if either Oklahoma or Iowa State could not take part in the championship game, then the Texas Longhorns would get a shot as the third-placed team. They own the tiebreaker over Oklahoma State despite playing one less game. The most unlikely of scenarios but this year, it seems more like a 50/50 shot.
With the regular season all wrapped up, we look at the Big 12 Conference’s power rankings. This time we start at the top.
