Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte provided an update on head coach Tom Herman’s future on Saturday.
Well, sort of. According to those on social media, it depends on how you digest Del Conte’s comments. To some it may appear as a vote of confidence in retaining Herman for another season. To others, the message was lukewarm and uncertain.
Take a look at the wording below. It doesn’t mention anything about 2021 or his future. Yes, Herman is the coach right now. He’ll likely be coaching Texas through their bowl game, too. However, no one knows how long that will last.

Del Conte essentially left the door open for anything to happen. It doesn’t look like Herman will be the longterm coach for the Longhorns, but he could be retained for another season due to his large buyout.
That’s if Urban Meyer chooses not to return to the sidelines.
The Texas fanbase is clearly ready to move in another direction regardless of Meyer’s decision. There are far too many familiar failures each season under Herman.
The social media reactions were certainly telling. View them all on the next page.
