VFL Jordan Bone makes debut for Magic

Jordan Bone plays preseason game for Orlando against the Atlanta Hawks.

The National Basketball Association opened its preseason schedule Friday and a former University of Tennessee player made his debut for a new team.

Point guard Jordan Bone played his first game as a member of the Orlando Magic.

Bone, who played for the Volunteers between 2016-19, played six minutes in the Magic’s 116-112 victory over Atlanta Friday at Phillips Arena.

Bone scored six points, pulled down two rebounds and had an assist in Orlando’s win.

The former Vol was selected in the second round of the 2019 NBA draft by the New Orleans Pelicans and played for Detroit last season.

He recently signed a two-way deal to play for Orlando and the Lakeland Magic, the team’s NBA G-League affiliate.

Bone, a second-team All-Southeastern Conference performer for the Vols in 2019, was a two-way player for the Pistons last season, splitting time between Detroit and the NBA G-League’s Grand Rapids Drive.

Bone, who played his high school basketball at the Ensworth School in Nashville, played 10 games for the Pistons last season. He averaged 1.2 points, 0.8 assists and 0.4 rebounds per game.
