Detroit Pistons rookie Killian Hayes kicked off his NBA career on Friday and wasted little time before recording his first bucket off of a friendly assist from teammate Blake Griffin.
Hayes, the seventh overall pick, has had a strong training camp showing thus far for the Pistons and earned the start on Friday night. He has drawn praise from head coach Dwane Casey and his teammates for his playmaking and ability to run the team.
The 19-year-old logged seven minutes of work in his initial stint on the floor in the first quarter and converted a tough finish for his lone basket of the period after Griffin hit him with a crazy pass off the fastbreak.

Hayes recorded three points, one rebound and one steal during his first action on the court. He looked a bit tense at times and committed three turnovers but that was certainly to be expected in his first-ever NBA game.
