Oklahoma undefeated against West Virginia in Big 12 era, holds all-time series lead

A recap of the series history between Oklahoma and West Virginia ahead of their matchup in Morgantown on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. CT.

No. 11 Oklahoma will conclude their regular season on Saturday morning on the road taking on a solid 5-4 West Virginia squad in Morgantown.

The Sooners have already clinched a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game, so this is really just an opportunity to improve in some areas but more importantly they need to stay healthy going into an Iowa State rematch.

Saturday will mark the 13th all-time meeting between Oklahoma and the Mountaineers with the Sooners holding a 10-2 series lead including an 8-0 mark since West Virginia joined the Big 12 prior to the 2012 season.

The last win for the Mountaineers came when they were a part of the now extinct Big East in the 2008 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. West Virginia quarterback Pat White used his dual-threat ability to outlast future Heisman-winner and NFL Draft top pick Sam Bradford 48-28.

While Oklahoma is 8-0 in the series since this became a conference matchup, the two teams have had multiple classic games highlighted by the incredible 50-49 and 59-56 shootout Sooner wins in Morgantown in 2012 and 2018.

The first meeting under new head coach Neal Brown did not go well for West Virginia, though, as they were hammered in Norman by a final score of 52-14 last season.

The ninth Big 12 meeting between these two programs will take place this Saturday at 11:00 a.m. CT in Morgantown and will be broadcast on ABC.
