49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo, TE George Kittle ‘had great workouts’ Monday

San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch told ESPN’s Lisa Salters that Jimmy Garoppolo and George Kittle “had great workouts” on Monday morning.

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch was interviewed by ESPN’s Lisa Salters on Monday Night Countdown prior to the 49ers’ matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Lynch gave 49ers fans some good news about the rehab of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and tight end George Kittle.

We got more positive news today. They (Jimmy Garoppolo and George Kittle) both had great workouts this morning. That just adds to the great work they’ve been doing. We’re going to be judicious. They’re both important players, not only now but to our future, so we’re not going to put them out there until they’re ready… and we’re hopeful that at some point towards the end of the year they can get back out there and compete for us.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters last Tuesday that he was holding out hope both could return for the last couple of games. However, he was unwilling to make any promises.

In his 6 starts this season, Garoppolo has completed 67.4% of his passes for 1,096 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions. Kittle has hauled in 37 receptions for 474 yards and 2 touchdowns in 6 games.

If the 49ers are going to stay in the playoff hunt and make a run, having Garoppolo and Kittle down the stretch will be vital.
