The Giants are the most bonkers story of a really bonkers NFL season

Hello. Good morning. Happy Monday. Hey, do me a favor and raise your hand if a little over four weeks ago you thought the New York Giants would win their next four straight games and seize somewhat control of the stinky NFC East.

Yeah, my hand is down, too.

But that is somehow exactly what has happened for the Giants, who went to Seattle on Sunday and stunned the really good Seahawks to move to 5-7 and maintain a lead over Washington, a team they have already beaten once this year, in the NFC East.

Oh, and the Giants beat the Seahawks with Colt McCoy as their starting QB. I didn’t even know Colt McCoy was still in the league. When the TV fella introduced McCoy as the starting QB on Sunday I turned to my dog and said, “Can you believe Colt McCoy is still in the NFL!?” My dog was sleeping and doesn’t really get football but I’m sure he would have been surprised, too.

Anyways, first-year head coach Joe Judge is doing one heck of a job with the Giants. His team was without starting QB Daniel Jones on Sunday due to a hamstring injury he suffered last week against the Bengals. But even if he was healthy and played Sunday it would have been wild if the Giants won in Seattle because Daniel Jones is Daniel Jones, which isn’t a great quarterback at all.

And sure, the Giants had only beaten Washington, Philly, and the Bengals during this streak but this year more than any you just have to get your wins when you can and keep pushing forward. There are a lot of bad teams this year and a lot of teams can lose any week. So when you win four in a row that’s pretty darn impressive.

Also, the Giants are 5-3 in their last eight games and the three losses have been be a combined six points.

That’s not bad at all!

The Giants have also been without Saquan Barkley for most of the season, which will hurt any offense, let alone one with a starting QB named Daniel Jones.

I have to think Sunday’s win in Seattle led to a fun plane ride back home, one that is only going to make this team closer as a group. And it appears this group is really starting to believe in each other and play for one another. And in this crazy year that has to be worth more than usual.

This could all go to you-know-what in the next three weeks when they face the Cardinals, Browns and Ravens before ending their season at home against the Cowboys.

But right now the Giants look like a team that wants to win the NFC East and maybe stun someone in the playoffs.

And those are things I thought would never happen just four weeks ago.

What a bonkers season.

– Steve Kornacki broke down the NFL playoff picture on ‘SNF’ and it was actually really good stuff.
