Former New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz has thrived in his post-playing career, finding a place on various television and radio programs. But that hasn’t prevented Cruz from continuing his charitable approach to the community.
Most recently, Cruz bought and donated 400 laptops to students from Patterson, New Jersey — his hometown.
Cruz is extremely proud of the fact that he is from Patterson and his unlikely route to success in the NFL.
Schools around the state of New Jersey have been faced with additional challenges because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and many students lack computers at home.
“I’ve become a secondary teacher at home. I know these kids in Paterson and their parents are having an even tougher time without the proper resources, so I think these laptops will go a long way,” Cruz told ABC NY.
These laptops don’t represent the first time Cruz donated to his hometown and it likely will not be the last. Earlier this year, Cruz also helped to donate 100 chromebooks to the public school district of Patterson.
Cruz’s continued donations and charity work are no surprise for the extremely humble former wide receiver and Super Bowl champion. He was a fan favorite due to his New Jersey roots and his remarkable — almost storybook — climb to the NFL superstardom.
Clearly, Cruz has not forgotten where he came from as he continues to give back to today’s youth.
