Notre Dame basketball home opener reset again

Notre Dame is finally set to open the home portion of the 2020-21 basketball season. At least we think.

Notre Dame basketball will give it a fourth try to get their home season underway as all attempts to date have been unable to be played.

Originally the men’s basketball team was supposed to host Western Michigan earlier this week but that game was canceled due to a lack of available Broncos players.

The Irish also had a home game against Tennessee that was scheduled for Friday night but was canceled over a week ago due to a COVID outbreak with the Volunteers basketball team.

Notre Dame quickly scrambled and scheduled a game with Purdue Fort Wayne to come to town Saturday but that game was canceled shortly after getting scheduled as well.

All of that leads us to now.

At 7 p.m. ET on Sunday, Dec. 6, Notre Dame will finally open their home men’s basketball season against Detroit Mercy.

That news came down on Friday and hopefully, we won’t have any other news in regards to it until it actually tips off.

Notre Dame is 0-1 on the year, losing last Saturday night at Michigan State.
