It’s no secret Matt Patricia rubbed many people the wrong way in his two-plus seasons as the Detroit Lions head coach. His brash, profane style when he first took over as the team’s coach and confrontational personality early in his tenure made Patricia few friends amongst Lions players.
When the news of Patricia’s firing got out, some of those players who did not like their coach in Detroit took to social media to smoke a victory cigar.
Current Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson, who left Detroit as a free agent this past offseason, didn’t hold back in lighting up Patricia. And his tweet here reinforces the sort of negative relationship Patricia engendered with many of his players.
Haha told me you’ll take my career away from me but I guess they have other plans for you 😂😂

Another prominent player who clashed with Particia frequently in their time together was CB Darius Slay. Now in Philadelphia after the Lions traded the popular Pro Bowl corner last season, Slay chimed in too.

Slay’s Philadelphia teammate, WR Travis Fulgham, also weighed in. He was cut by the Lions after his rookie year.

Former Lions LB Stephen Tulloch, who did not play under Patricia, left a longer and more optimistic message on his Instagram page,

There will be no shortage of former Lions players who did not like Patricia getting in their parting shots in the coming days.
