The New York Giants find themselves in a rare spot for this Sunday’s game in Cincinnati. They are road favorites for the first time since Week 16 of last season at Washington when they were one-point faves.
BetMGM has the Giants early 5-point favorites against the Bengals this week. The over/under opened at 42.5 points. The money line is as follows: Giants -233, Bengals +190.
The Giants (3-7) are coming off their bye and are on a two-game winning streak. They are currently ranked 13th out 16 in the NFC but are in second place in the NFC East, just one-half game behind the Philadelphia Eagles (3-6-1). They are 7-3 against the spread this year and have covered in their last four.
The Bengals (2-7-1) are in last place in the AFC North and are seeded No. 14 in the AFC. They have lost their last two games and five their last six. They tied Philadelphia in Week 3 and followed that up with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Their only other victory came in Week 8 against Tennessee. Cincinnati is 6-5 against the seeped this season.
The Giants have emerged as favorites due to several reasons. All but one of their losses have been by 10 points or less and they are basically healthy and rested.
The Bengals, meanwhile, suffered two key losses this weekend. First, star running back Joe Mixon was placed on injured reserve with a foot injury where he will miss at least three more games. Then, on Sunday, quarterback Joe Burrow — the first overall selection in this year’s NFL Draft — went down with a torn ACL and is gone for the season.
Cincinnati was dominated by Washington after Burrow left the game. Backup Ryan Finley was unimpressive to say the least in relief. Oddsmakers are not confident in him and many believe Cincinnati could go winless the rest of the way.
