Pro Football Focus has a good idea brewing here.
Instead of remembering Week 10 against the Arizona Cardinals as “Hail Murray,” Bills Mafia can just remember it as… the “Cole Beasley game.”
Sound good?
PFF gives us that concept because the Bills’ slot receiver was the latest Buffalo player to land in the outlet’s “Team of the Week.”
The recognition is the first time this season that Beasley has landed such an honor via the football analytics outlet, but he did have his best game of 2020 against the Cards. Beasley had 11 catches for 109 yards and a touchdown. He had a similar stat line in Week 7 against the Jets (11-112), but he didn’t have a score in that outing.
As those two games indicate, Beasley’s efforts in Arizona is nothing like a flash in the pan. He’s produced all year. Beasley has the 11th most catches in the NFL with 55 and PFF also ranks him as their best-overall slot receiver in the league through 10 games.
In terms of PFF’s grades, Beasley is also Buffalo’s second-best player on the Bills offense this season, trailing only quarterback Josh Allen.
In landing on PFF’s Team of the Week, Beasley joins the likes of AJ Klein, Levi Wallace, Daryl Williams, Stefon Diggs and Jordan Poyer who’ve also earned a spot on PFF’s Team of the Week in 2020. Worth nothing, though: PFF only comprises their weekly honors based on Sunday games, so any previously Bills games not on Sunday did not see any of their guys qualifying for the honor.
